Archduke Rudolphe. Carbon print photographs from 1881 on a cabinet card by Ghémar Frères.
On May 10, 1881, the only son of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria married Princess Stefanie of Belgium. Rudolphe could have become Emperor had he not committed suicide on January 30, 1889.
Photographs were taken in 1881 on the occasion of the engagement by Ghémar Frères and Géruzet Frères. All these beautiful carbon print photographs are now highly sought after by collectors.
