(Орден Святого Великомученика и Победоносца Георгия 4 степени). Instituted 26 November 1769 by Catherine II (the Great). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a silvered depiction of Saint George slaying a dragon, the reverse with an analogous red enameled medallion bearing a gilt Cyrillic monogram of “СГ” for “СВЯТОГО ГЕОРГИЯ” (“SAINT GEORGE”), the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period correct replacement ribbon, the suspension ring marked “BRONZE”, measuring 40.15 mm (w) x 45.15 mm (h), some tarnishing and flecking of enamels evident, in better than very fine condition.
