Your Excellency Freifrau Klara von Leonrod, wife of the Lord Chamberlain.
Born on 12 October 1870 in Würzburg, Freiin von Sazenhofen was the daughter of the Royal General-Adjutant and Cavalry General, Maximilian Freiherr von Sazenhofen. She married Wilhelm Freiherr von Leonrod (1865 – 1943) on 15 November 1905. The death of her sons, Ludwig Freiherr von Leonrod (1906 – 1944), a victim of the 20 July plot, and Maximilian (1909 – 1947), extinguished the male line of the family. Clara Freiin von Leonrod was a Royal Bavarian court lady and co-owner of Schmiechen castle, which passed into her hands on the extinction of the family of the Freiherrn von Thünefeld (1937).
