Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, 1957 Issue with Case
(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II Klasse) Reinstituted 1 September 1939 (1997 Issue) Constructed of silvered nickel alloy and iron, consisting of a cross paty with a blackened magnetic iron core with a ribbed, silvered nickel alloy frame, the obverse centre bears three oak leaves, the 6 o’clock arm bears the reinstitution date “1939”, the reverse 6 o’clock arm bears the date “1813”, on an elongated loop for suspension, suspension marked “21 200”, with red, white and black striped ribbon, measuring 48.05 mm (w) x 54.10 mm (h), with rectangular case constructed of a black pebbled material, push button latch, the interior lid of a white fabric, the medal bed of a black felt, measuring 80.07 mm (w) x 147.58 mm (h), very fine.
