POLAND POLISH ORDER OF THE VIRTUTI MILITARI AND AWARD DOCUMENT #2022, 5th class, French made,1831 with award document issued to Count Teodor Waga Pociej. According to historical records Count Pociej, a distinguished civic leader, joined the revolt as a volunteer and fought in the 1831 Uprising against Czarist Russia. After the unsuccessful revolt, he left Poland for France like many other Poles. The document issued by the Commanding general of the General Staff on 11 August 1831 awarding Count Pociej the silver cross of the Order of the Virtuti Militari. The document has an official stamp of the General Staff and commanders signature. This is the finest original document that I have ever seen from that era. The Virtuti is a French production in sterling silver with gold center disks. The ribbon is original. It is amazing that this document has existed for 186 years. He listed in Wesolowski, Virtuti, page 204.
